Originally from New Jersey, she now lives in Florida. Annette is a person who found out her dad was not her biological father. She is an NPE (Not Parent Expected) woman who is a professional member of The MPE Counseling Collective, and a member of several support groups with approximately 10,000 members. Annette and her colleagues published a professional study in the Journal of Integrative Medicine, published an article on NPEs in In Focus, a magazine for therapists in Florida, and has spoken on Ancestry Discoveries and related treatment. She facilitates a Facebook page on Ancestry Discoveries and has been a guest on a podcast on the same topic. Annette self-published Warren is Wonderful, a children’s book for children with autism. Annette Becklund currently serves the wonderful children and caring, loving staff of
Mid-Florida Head Start
as a mental health consultant. She is a past developmental disabilities consultant with an inpatient mental health hospital. Her work resulted in exploring weighted blankets as a means for reducing use of restraints and decreasing anxiety of all patients. The study was conducted by three researchers and was published in the Journal of Integrative Medicine. The study concluded that after 20 minutes of weighted blanket use, there was a significant decrease in anxiety demonstrated by a decrease in pulse rate and a decrease in anxiety scores.
